Rainforest Hike

This was on our way through the rain forest. This is looking out over a valley toward Mt Liamuiga (volcano). If you watch to the end you will see where I pan to the east and you can see the Caribbean. Being familiar with the forest of East Texas, a rain forest is quite different. The smells, sounds, dampness, and greenery are impressive. I guess the sheer variety of plants is also a difference. The farther you go up, or down, the plants change completely. It's very alive.

This is when Karston took a dip in a stream in the rain forest. Despite what you might think about a "tropical" rain forest. That water was cold! Karston also showed off his underwater videography skills.

Planed Out!

What winsurfing has done is prove the old saying, "It ain't as easy as it looks," to be oh so true. After many weeks of trial and error- mostly error, I have finally managed to plane out on top of the water in stead of plodding along like a super tanker. Thank goodness I have some friends who are practically pros (Willy Sturgis). When you plan out you are more or less skiing and things change up quite dramatically. Things are happening a lot faster. It's really an experience.

CORPUS YACHT SHOW

Blurry-- Cami in the Cabin of a yacht
This might not be the sight passengers would want to see, "Uhh.... ladys and gentlemen, everything is under control here on the bridge."

A view of some of the boats

This was a really nice French sail boat. It had two bed rooms, a full kitchen, flat TV screen and living room. This pic doesn't really show its true size- it was big.

BRIGHT SHIPYARD PRESENTS THE USS _____?

The most recent project to leave the Bright Shipyard. I'm taking suggestions on names to christen this mighty ship. Yes, its a powered kayak- no I'm really not that lazy. It's for fishing, and I'm not about working out when I fish. My neighbor and I built it. Believe it or not, a cutting board and some junk wire are the basic building blocks of this project.

Indian Point Pier

Some pics taken from Indian Point Pier. The big Heron hung out with us most of the evening. I think he's figured out a lot of fishermen drop bait. Cameron, Karston, and I saw him chug down about a 10 inch mullet without a problem.

This pic shows the leading edge of a cold front blowing through downtown.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of bird this is. Any ideas? Some sort of Heron I believe. Sarah?
